Design Rules We Love To Break!
It has been said that the first rule of interior design is that almost all other rules can be broken. So it’s true! Rules are made to be broken. Here is a list of rules that we absolutely love to break, because we all know that playing by the rules is no fun.
“Metal finishes HAVE to match!”
You can mix and match to your heart’s content

Silver and gold team up to make this living room setting feel sophisticated.
“EVERYTHING has to coordinate!”
Nancy enjoys mixing things up. “I like to make it look like an evolution has occurred, not like everything was purchased at the same time from the same decorator’s box.

“Occasional pieces have to match!”
We have some news for you: No, they don’t!

These Side tables don’t match and that’s O.K.!
While we are on mismatched things, lamps don’t have to match either!
Dan is alright with breaking the rules, especially when it comes to matching. “Lamps don’t have to match! If you make sure they are the same size and scale then it will work.”

These Lamps don’t match, but they are the same height and that makes it work!

You don’t even have to have two lamps! We love the way this orchid looks pared with this lamp!
“Ceilings HAVE to be white!”
Well, actually Dan loves the look of a more creamy off white color maybe even a pale pink.
Get creative! Bold colors work too!
“Your sofa has to go on your longest Wall”

Floating your sofa and chairs can help to create a more intimate and comfortable seating area for your family and guests.
Comfort is the greatest and most valuable luxury.
“Your Chairs Have To Match!”
Mixing it up is key…
